Plant Detective for April 16, 2018 3:58 PM - 4:00 PM [Program Website]
Information about medicinal, culinary and other uses of plants. Produced by Montana Public Radio.
Phytomedicinal Gumshoe Flora Delaterre, takes listeners on a journey through the world of medicinal plants. “The Plant Detective” orients listeners to medicinal plants, their properties, past and present uses, and some contraindications and drug interactions.
“The Plant Detective” is not just about herbal medicine. Medicinal compounds described on the show are found in many prescribed and over-the-counter drugs, or they may have served as models or precursors for those drugs. Concerned about threats to some medicinal plants and their habitat, Flora Delaterre shows how plants help people, in hopes that people will help protect plants.
Medical botanist Robyn Klein, Mark Blumenthal of the American Botanical Council, and the Botanical Medicine faculty of Bastyr University, guide and review the show’s content. Writer/producer Beth Judy creates the scripts and narrates the show. “The Plant Detective” is a production of Montana Public Radio and The University of Montana.
