The actress Angelina Jolie's decision to have a double mastectomy as a way to prevent getting breast cancer, and her choice to make that decision public, have shed light on the rare genetic mutation she has that can cause breast and ovarian cancer. It has also prompted a flood of inquiries from women about the mutation - who's at risk, and what their choices are if they have it. Tonight on Montana Evening Edition; Tuesday, May 28th
Member of the Clark Fork River Task Force met today in Missoula to discuss water supply and climate conditions forecasts for this year. In short, the hydrologists, drought experts, reservoir operators and others say the recent cool and wet spell has been an important counter-balance for the basin that has recently experienced several unseasonable warm spells. Northwest Montana has plenty of moisture right now, while Southwest Montana once again, just like last year, is most at risk for drier conditions than the rest of the state this summer. In tonight’s feature interview Edward O’Brien speaks with University of Montana School of Forestry and Conservation’s Dr. Steve Running who’s developing a new drought monitoring tool.
